Dear Foundation/Community Relations Director:

I am writing you this formal letter to make a request to you concerning monetary donation and/or an in-kind donation of gift cards, gift certificates, auction items, memorabilia and collectible coins and paper monies ranging from $1000.00 to 10,000.00 and/or auction item to help support us The Gift Of Giving Every Penny Count Fundraising Event. This event will raise funds to help support The Gift Of A Helping Hand Emergency Shelter. The emergency shelter will provide housing for the 60% of homeless single mothers for children and the 39% of homeless single mothers with children and single women leaving out of domestic violence situations in southeastern Michigan.

Also any donations sent to us in March or April will get Feinstein money from Rhode Island added to it – and the more of a donation you send to us, the more of the Feinstein $1 million we’ll get – thanks to you! You and your company will become partners in what has become the most successful campaign of all times to fight hunger!

The Gift Of Giving Every Penny Count will support the 93% of the households in metropolitan Detroit, Michigan lives at or below the poverty rate. Fifty percent of poverty-stricken single mothers with children under 18 years of age are living below the poverty-rate. Fifty-six percent of mothers with children under 5 years only are living below the poverty rate.

Twenty-three percent of the homeless population is children with their families. 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime. In 2001, 85% of victims of domestic violence were women. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence 2005 report. 0.2% of domestic violence situation against women resides in metropolitan Detroit, Michigan. Requests for emergency shelter increased by 13% shelter requests for homeless families increased 22%.

There is a need for more emergency shelters and transitional housing for the 60% of homeless single mothers with children and homeless single mothers with children leaving out of domestic violence situation. 0.4% of women domestic violence cases are chronic. Less than 10,000 beds are available to house the 10,000 to 14,000 homeless constituency on the city streets of Detroit every night, so there is a great need for more homeless shelter capacity, beds and cots to house the homeless constituency.

Help support us and become our sponsor by making an in-kind donations of gift cards of $1000.00 to $10,000.00 for The Gift Of Giving Every Penny Count Fundraising Event that will help support and provide housing for homeless single mothers with children, homeless single women, single mothers with children and single women leaving out of domestic violence situations in southeastern Michigan, including Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve the needy, seniors, hungry, and the homeless in our communities. Your donation will help support The Gift Of Giving Every Penny Count Fundraising Event.

Sincerely,

Cathy P. Russell
